SYSTEM DESIGN AND MANAGEMENT (SDM) CERTIFICATE AND INDUSTRY DIRECTOR , System Design and Management Program , to act as a key member SDM's leadership team. Will have primary responsibility for overseeing all facets of the graduate certificate program and other professional offerings, directing the capstone research work of certificate students, building strong connections with senior technical staff to design capstone projects, establishing the link between academic development and real-world content for core projects, searching for industry best practice in systems thinking, fostering career direction/options for students, and continuing the connection with students as they transition to alumni. Will also conduct research on industry sectors, technology domains, and trends applicable to SDM; and identifying relevant collaborators and future challenges that add value to or help shape SDM faculty-student-industry research collaborations.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : undergraduate technical degree, preferably in a systems-related engineering/management field; seven years' industry, business development, or related experience; experience working with key company partners (e.g., directors or vice presidents); industry leadership experience (preferably at the director level or above) in a systems thinking/complex systems/product development environment; experience managing complex systems in a global enterprise; experience conducting applied research in industry for the benefit of students, entrepreneurs, and others at the industry-academia interface; communication and interpersonal skills and ability to talk with and convince senior industry and government leaders about the value of SDM engagement; and strong relationship skills for working with and guiding students as they balance academic and work pressures.
