THE DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING AT ROWAN UNIVERSITY invites applications for multiple tenure-track/tenured faculty positions at the Assistant/Associate Professor rank. Successful candidates must have a commitment to teaching excellence at undergraduate and graduate levels, develop a nationally recognized externally funded research program, and contribute to the institution and profession through service. Candidates for the Associate Professor position should have an established record of research, teaching, and service commensurate with the higher rank.
A doctorate in mechanical engineering or a closely related field is required for appointment. In addition, excellent written and oral communication skills are expected. Although outstanding candidates in all areas of mechanical engineering will be considered, the preferred areas of research interest and expertise are digital design & manufacturing, multi-physics modeling & simulation, and electronic packaging design. The Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering provides a unique, minds-on, hands-on experience that is distinct and is routinely recognized for its innovation and commitment to excellence. The College currently enrolls about 1560 undergraduates and 230 MS/PhD students and has received over $13 million in research funding annually over the last three years. Most recently, U.S. News & World Report ranked the College #19 and the mechanical engineering department #11 out of more than 200 programs in our category nationwide.
The Mechanical Engineering department is home to 400 undergraduates, 40 MS/PhD students, 16 faculty members, and three staff members. The ME undergraduate program has consistently received high recognition by employers and academic peers with multidisciplinary “engineering clinics” as a hallmark (https://engineering.rowan.edu/programs/mechanical/ clinics/index.html). We are now seeking to further strengthen graduate research and teaching, while maintaining the excellence of the undergraduate program, through multiple faculty hiring. The major research strengths of the department include advanced manufacturing, material science & engineering, and thermal-fluid sciences. Our faculty are core team members of the newly established Advanced Materials & Manufacturing Institute at Rowan aimed to strengthen materials-related research and education. The new faculty members will complement and expand research expertise in the department and build strong connections with government/industry in the region and beyond.
