Position Purpose

The Manager, HVAC and Controls will lead the effective and efficient utilization of personnel and materials, overseeing all staff activities. The Manager will work with the Director of MEP in developing and implementing strategic plans and initiatives for the HVAC and Controls divisions.
Job Qualifications and Competencies
Bachelor's Degree required; preferably in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Management or related field.
8-12 years of progressive management experience in Facilities Management
Experience in supervision of employees, including training, organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments
Significant Direct Digital Control ExperienceÂ
Significant Building Automation Software Experience
Significant experience in mechanical HVAC systems
Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license
Must maintain required license(s) as a condition of employment
Considerable knowledge of the methods, practices, tools and materials of the trade
Ability to effectively and efficiently handle multiple, simultaneous, and complex tasks and projects
Extensive knowledge of building trades management principles, methods, and techniques.
Extensive knowledge of building controls systems and programming
Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
Knowledge of processes/practices used to measure performance and develop systemic improvement models
Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals.
Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and prepare reports, statements and/or projections.
Ability to coordinate and/or supervise facility repair contractors.
Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
Knowledge of construction and service contract documents and specifications.
Knowledge of all federal, state, and local codes and ordinances pertinent to facilities planning, design, construction, and maintenance.
Ability to read and interpret schematics, drawings, and blueprints.
Ability to analyze and evaluate complex issues and develop creative, responsive solutions.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google platforms, familiar with FAMIS or similar CMMS
Ability to foster a collaborative, team centered environment
Must be able to work effectively with a diverse population.

Additional physical demands and working conditions:
Physical demands: Regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is required to stand, walk, use hands to feel and use hands and arms to reach. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. May be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment to include steel toed shoes, or non â“ slippery shoes, eye protection, nitrile and leather gloves.Â
Must be able to walk, stand climb stairs for long durations of time during and outside of shifts
Must be able to work under adverse temperatures and /or weather conditionsÂ
Incumbents are required to work evenings, weekends and holiday rotations
This position is classified as on-site
May be required to perform duties in the Animal Care Facility
