POSITION Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Ceramic Process Engineer / Materials Manager is a hands-on role across the below areas of responsibility. This is not a people management position. Responsibilities are as follows:
• The accuracy and revision maintenance of controlled formula batch cards and mixing instruction cards. • Supporting sales and estimating in material/process recommendations as directed by the Engineering Manager. • Recommending improvements to existing materials. • Leading R&D efforts regarding new materials and/or material processes. • Managing testing and implementation of recommended material improvements as approved and prioritized by engineering. • Recommending/Implementing improvements in material processing and control as prioritized by engineering. • Performing random but routine audits of the mixing personnel with respect to formulations, procedures, reporting, and documentation in accordance with established procedures. • Reviewing and reporting equipment issues resultant from the periodic inspections as well as breakdowns, etc., with the maintenance supervisor and plant manager. • Attending regularly scheduled production staff meetings and reports any concerns or potential issues and documents/investigates those concerns and discusses with the plant manager and/or QA manager. • Supporting production and quality with troubleshooting production processes as requested. • Maintaining correct inventory levels of raw materials and scheduling deliveries to meet production requirements. • Maintaining and auditing all material related procedures.
BASE REQUIREMENTS • Bachelor’s degree in a technical/engineering field. • 2+ years applicable hands-on experience. • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
