Please take a moment to review NOVAâ™s Annual Security Reports.General Description: Perform operation, maintenance, repair and installation of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning [HVAC] systems, BAS controls systems, and other related components. Campus technical advisor on HVAC and EMS matters. Evaluate contracted HVAC & BAS work. Provide supervision to HVAC & BAS Technicians. Maintain equipment and systems. Position may support various campus teams as needed.Â Duties and Tasks: Supervise contracted HVAC and BAS work. Supervise Campus HVAC team. Maintain HVAC equipment, support systems, and EMS systems: correct problems, and perform new HVAC & BAS installations in compliance with applicable codes. Provide the most economical and safest HVAC service to campus. Maintain inventory of equipment, supplies and materials. Obtain quotes, process orders, reconcile and maintain paperwork / files. Complete work orders with priorities approved by Facilities Manager. Independently handle emergency work on weekends and holidays. Essential Functions: Provide supervision to HVAC & BAS technicians and maintain equipment and systems.Â Perform maintenance work, troubleshoot and repair systems. Support emergency operations, supervise campus HVAC team and HVAC & BAS contractorâ™s.
Required KSAs: â¢ Knowledge of principles and practices of maintenance, repair, safety and replacement of HVAC equipment. â¢ Ability to repair and maintain a variety of equipment to include, but not limited to, air conditioning, boilers, air-handlers, fan coil units, pumps, valves, controllers (both DOC &Pneumatic), motors, starters, refrigeration and automated control systems. â¢ Ability to follow verbal instruction and work independently. â¢ Ability to work with little or no supervision and make sound decisions independently. â¢ Proficient in the use of hand, electrical tools, as well as service manuals and all diagnostic equipment related to the trade. â¢ Ability to lift 50 Ibs. on a regular basis. â¢ Ability to function in close quarters or cramped environments. â¢ Ability to operate all required equipment. Considerable experience supervising a team of tradesmen.
