Job Summary:
Directs the development and implementation of activities in production area(s) to meet production goals, quality, and cost objectives. Prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply. Plans and administers procedures and budgets. Makes budgetary recommendations regarding and, at higher levels, controls capital expenditures and direct/indirect labor. Develops schedules and personnel requirements for assigned areas. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
In this position, you will become an integral member on an incredible team tasked with supporting a highly automated, cutting-edge assembly line that utilizes the latest and greatest Rockwell Automation hardware and software. This is a high visibility role in a data rich environment that requires cross-functional collaboration with teams throughout the company and interaction with customers to showcase Rockwell's capabilities.
This position is responsible for the overall leadership and management of manufacturing operations at the Milwaukee, WI facility. Key functions included in this job are Production Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Production & Inventory Control, Purchasing, Quality, Environmental Health & Safety and Continuous Improvement. This position also indirectly interfaces with Finance, HR, and Logistics.
This position is expected to collaborate with business partners to work toward common platforms, methods, procedures, and systems. The position has leadership responsibilities to drive a lean and Six Sigma continuous improvement culture leading to quality improvements, cycle time reductions, safety improvements, cost and waste reductions, inventory optimization, supplier development and on-time shipping performance. Directly reporting to this position is a manufacturing staff and production workforce of approximately 20 employees.
This work requires attention to detail, managing multiple priorities and taking actions with minimal direction which may encompass but not limited to the following:
- Team with finance manager to prepare facilities Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and Monthly Performance Review (MPR) and ensure achievement of goals and objectives
- Manage the financial performance and take appropriate steps to correct shortfalls
- Collaborate with business product manager to prepare and load volume forecast in SAP and AOP
- Prepare and present Monthly Operations Review (MOR)
- Capture and report facility's productivity savings into Lean Tracking Database
- Lead CI activities and RPS initiatives
- Propose capital plan and monitor timely implementation and capitalization.
- Collaborate with Test Engineering to improve OEE
- Work with sourcing team to utilize approved RA suppliers for existing and new part
- Lead activities to reduce inventory dollars and days on hand inventory
- Develop metrics that provide data for process management and indicators for future improvement opportunities
Skills:
- Ability to accept change and adapt to a variety of assignments in a fast-paced environment
- Capability for MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), and Microsoft Outlook
- Ability to be self-directing, manage time and priorities effectively, take initiative, exercise good judgment, and manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines
- Effective communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and collaboration skills
- Interest and ability to thrive in a high energy team environment with strong aptitude for interaction
- Working knowledge of ERP systems is essential, preferably SAP
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Management or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in both plant floor production management and materials management.
- Minimum of 3 years of varied experience in production operations and manufacturing facilities, including responsibility for multiple functional areas within operations
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in leading and managing an hourly/production workforce
