OverviewPerforms supervisory, advanced technical and administrative work in directing the technical operations, maintenance and repair of gas turbine generators, heat recovery steam generators, HTHW boilers, electrical generating equipment/auxiliary systems, diesel generators and centralize air-conditioning systems; performs related work as directed. Directs maintenance activities on district heating and cooling piping, valves, heat exchanges and controls across campus.
ResponsibilitiesRequired Education:
Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education:
Bachelor of Science or Engineering Degree in Mechanical, Marine or Facilities Engineering.EIT or Licensed Professional Engineer.Certified Energy Manager.
Required Experience:
5+ years of building mechanical systems, central plant, district heating and chilled water systems; experience managing staff.
Preferred Experience:
10+ of hands-on maintenance management experience. Knowledge of chemical water testing and treatment methods and procedures.Gas turbine experience and cogeneration experience a plus. City of New York Engineers License for High Pressure Boilers, Engines, and Pumps-Certificate of Qualification for Refrigeration System Operator of the City of New York-E.P.A. CFC Technician Certification

Demonstrated effective managerial skills. Able to direct staff to appropriate goals, objectives and outcomes. Knowledgeable of the ever changing climate of relevant certificates and licenses and is able to secure relevant, management level licenses as appropriate. Able to work effectively in a busy environment. Able to work effectively in a busy environment. Able to be effective in a power plant environment. Knows and demonstrates knowledge of equipment and controls, operation and maintenance. Experience in the operation, maintenance and repair of steam generating boilers, centralize air-conditioning or electrical power generating equipment and auxiliary systems in a supervisory role.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Skill in operating, controlling, regulating and/or synchronizing steam and electrical generating systems.
