The Network Cloud Engineer provides expertise in the architecture and operation of the University's enterprise campus network, as well as public and hybrid cloud infrastructures in order to maximize flexibility and productivity for all campus needs.
Responsibilities Include:
- Technical and administrative work in the design, installation, configuration, operation, documentation, and maintenance.
- Delivering centralized wired and wireless network services for the University which are comprised of and include but are not limited to: switches, routers, wireless controllers, access points, load balancers, firewalls, IDS and IPS systems, DHCP services, IP Address management systems, DNS services, authentication directory systems (Kerberos, LDAP, RADIUS), and VPN concentrators.
- Evaluating and acquisition new technologies and planning the integration of all network technologies for optimum service delivery of networking resources to the user community.
- Participating in the Information Services & Technology (IS&T) change management process.
- Submitting changes for network systems and services with documented risk evaluations for approval by the Executive Director and the Senior Leadership Team.
- Creating and maintaining supplementary documentation used by others to manage and maintain the University’s campus network infrastructure.
- Identifying appropriate cloud providers for service deployment,
- Designing, planning, and implementing client-specific cloud solutions,
- Ensuring the cloud network is responsive to user demands
- Troubleshooting any issues which may arise,
- Monitoring usage of cloud network,
- Implementing effective security strategies on networks.
The ideal candidate has knowledge and experience with the following protocols and specifications: Ethernet (802.3), Address Resolution Protocol (ARP), VLANs (802.1Q), Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP), Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP), Wireless Local Area Networking (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax), ICMP, IGMP, IPv4, IPv6, IPSEC, Open Shortest Path First (OSPFv2, OSPFv3), Border Gateway Protocol (iBGP / eBGP), EthernetVPN/Virtual Extensible LAN (EVPN/VXLAN), Vendor Proprietary Protocols; experience working within change management systems; and experience ne providing customer service in a high availability environment.
The ability to work an off-hours schedule as necessary is required.

Minimum Qualifications
- B.S. in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, or related technical field
AND
- Three to four years of information technology experience with TCP/IP Networking (Protocols and Administration)
OR
- Three years of information technology experience in the role of System or Network Administrator
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated customer service experience
- Wired Local Area Networking Experience
- Wireless Local Area Networking Experience
- Cloud Networking Experience
- Knowledge of Data Networking Protocols and Standards (TCP/IP, VLANs, LACP, STP, 802.11a/b/g/n/ac)
- Experience with the Installation and Configuration of Network Hardware and Software in a Network Environment
- Data Networking Training and Certifications
