About the job
The right person will be a manager of technical testing with hands-on experience in end to end testing across integrated eCommerce systems.
We are looking for a leader with a passion for quality engineering, test automation and eCommerce. This is a unique opportunity for a quality engineering manager to help us continue to deliver something that will directly enhance the lives of millions, by supporting the provision of education on a global scale.
Line management and recruitment.
Manage and grow the quality engineering team by hiring ‘A’ players as we increase our employee count
Line manage / mentor employees so that business and individual goals are met
Provide learning opportunities so that employees can gain new skills
Design, document and implement the end-to-end test strategy for Pearson’s Direct to Consumer business
Manage and co-ordinate end-to-end testing while working collaboratively across multiple project teams
Lead defect triage meetings and engage multiple development teams for defect resolution
Review test plans, scenarios and test cases with accountability for test completion sign off
Provide test estimations to project managers and development teams
Drive test automation using current generation of automation tools to effectively automate end-to-end
Ensure that test automation coverage is maintained at a high level as per set KPIs
Lead regular show and tell meetings to provide updates to senior management on test automation work
Keep up to date with knowledge of automation tools and ways of working
Test environments and data.
Manage the use and configuration of integrated test environments for all phases of testing
Lead a process for use of test data across integrated environments
Work with other teams to align on an end-to-end solution for test environment and data use
KPIs and metrics.
Assist with defining and reporting on test metrics and KPIs
Ensure that set targets are met
Other testing activities.
Liaise with the business to assist them with user acceptance testing (UAT)
Manage escalations in an acceptable timeframe
Attend Go / No Go meetings to provide testing sign off
Skills & Abilities
5+ years' experience in quality assurance / test management
5+ years' experience of line management and hiring / interviewing
A clear understanding of testing methods for API integrations across muti-faceted platforms
Strong experience of working with / implementing Risk Based Testing methodologies in order to pragmatically work against tight timelines but able to reduce the level of risk in the overall delivery
Strong communicator with effective presentation skills of critical issues, testing procedures and testing coverage
Hands on experience with / management of current generation test automation practices such as RPA, AI and machine learning
Exposure to working with complex eCommerce systems with many integrations
Excellent knowledge of JIRA, Confluence and agile process
Excellent attention to detail and demonstrable problem-solving skills
