The city of Delaware, which is the Delaware county seat, is approximately 25 miles north of Columbus, Ohio, the state capital. The central Ohio region has been nicknamed the “Silicon Heartland” following Intel’s 2022 commitment to invest $20 billion in the construction of two new leading-edge computer chip manufacturing facilities just northeast of Columbus to boost production to meet demand for advanced semiconductors. As the central Ohio region has grown, the City of Delaware and others like it in southern Delaware County are becoming viewed as suburbs of Columbus.
