Responsibilities
Core Duties:
Provide Subject Matter Expertise in the area of HVAC design/operations.
Responsible for the design, review, and construction of Facilities HVAC systems.
Review design and operation conditions to ensure all codes/standards and identified requirements are met.
Capable of performing system calculations, including but not limited to the following: system sizing, building heating and cooling, air flow, duct and pressure drop.
Evaluate and provide engineering direction to maintain existing equipment including the preparation of operating and maintenance procedures.
Prepare contract documents (Statements of Work) for HVAC related projects.
Strong knowledge of HVAC systems to develop, present and defend HVAC designs during peer, preliminary and final design reviews.
Prepare & review design and construction cost estimates based upon industry standards (e.g. RS MEANS).
Possess knowledge of system planning, campus master planning, utility studies, building systems analysis, building envelope design and maintenance of equipment is required.
Have the ability to read and understand P&IDâ™s, control strategies and development of control schematics based upon the documents.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects to meet department needs.
Responsible for compliance to PPPLâ™s Integrated Safety Management process for contractors and PPPL employees.
Position will be required to serve as a Princeton Technical Representative, responsible for ensuring subcontractors performance meets quality and contract document requirements. Subcontractors may be A/E design or general construction contractors.
Superior communication skills, both written and oral are essential, must be self-motivated and have a proactive approach to solving programs, excellent computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office suite and AutoCAD.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Must have a minimum of a BSME (advanced degree preferred) with a minimum of 10 years of experience working with HVAC and utility (cooling water, chilled water) projects.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
HVAC and water systems.
Revit/CAD design platform.
Commissioning complex systems
Support of energy management
Knowledge of Department of Energy, and General Service Administration (GSA) regulations or similar is desired.
Certificates and Licenses:
Professional Engineer (PE) registration is required.
LEEP AP credential is highly recommended.
A valid driver license is required.
Routine exposure to support - service areas including boiler plants, mechanical spaces and areas where building infrastructure and operating systems as contained both inside and outdoors. At times, the examination of these spaces requires bending, stooping, and climbing around moderate system components, use of ladders and devices to access systems and work at heights.
