Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering in the College of Engineering at Iowa State University (ISU), invites applications for the position of a (nine-month) term teaching faculty member at the Assistant, Associate, Full Teaching Professor, or Professor of Practice rank. Successful candidates will be expected to provide high-quality instruction in undergraduate industrial engineering courses, including lecture and laboratory courses, as well as curriculum coordination and other responsibilities related to the teaching mission of the university, such as committee work and mentoring of undergraduate students. Candidates with suitable qualifications may also teach masterâs level systems engineering or engineering management courses. Candidates should have strong communication skills and share our commitment to enhancing excellence through diversity and inclusion.
Both full and part-time full-time equivalency (FTE) employee status as well as remote options from within the state of Iowa will be available for this position depending on the selected candidate's availability and the department's teaching needs.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
Assistant Teaching Professor - Bachelorâs degree in engineering/related discipline AND a Masterâs degree in engineering/related discipline AND 5 years of relevant work experience OR Bachelorâs degree in engineering/related discipline AND a Doctoral degree in engineering/related discipline.
Associate Teaching Professor - 5 years of undergraduate teaching with a record of excellence AND either Bachelorâs degree in engineering/related discipline AND a Masterâs degree in engineering/related discipline AND 8 years of relevant work experience OR Bachelorâs degree in engineering/related discipline AND a Doctoral degree in engineering/related discipline AND 5 years of relevant work experience.
Teaching Professor - 11 years of undergraduate teaching with a record of excellence AND either Bachelorâs degree in engineering/related discipline AND a Masterâs degree in engineering/related discipline AND 13 years of relevant work experience OR Bachelorâs degree in engineering/related discipline AND a Doctoral degree in engineering/related discipline AND 10 years of relevant work experience
Professor of Practice - Bachelorâs degree in engineering/related discipline AND 13 years relevant industry experience AND Either 11 years of undergraduate teaching with a record of excellence OR Evidence of professional practice unique and impactful enough that warrants the title Professor of Practice without meeting the 11-year undergraduate teaching requirement.
Preferred Qualifications:
Teaching experience in industrial automation or systems engineering or related fields
Industrial experience including leadership of process improvement efforts
Expertise in Industry 4.0 technologies such as robotics/automation, system integration, digital twins and/or internet of things.
Expertise in complex systems engineering involving the design, simulation, and integration of multiple physical and IT environments

About the Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering Department
The Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering (IMSE) offers B.S, MEng, M.S., and Ph.D. degree programs in industrial engineering, as well as M.Eng. programs in Systems Engineering and Engineering Management and an undergraduate minor in Engineering Sales. IMSE has an undergraduate enrollment of approximately 300 students, and graduate enrollment of approximately 150 students. It demonstrates a commitment to diversity among faculty, staff, and students who can enrich University objectives in the areas of research, teaching, and service. The new $69 million Therkildsen Industrial Engineering Building is planned to open by early 2025 with nearly 80,000 gross square feet of space dedicated to the departmentâs teaching, research, and outreach activities. A new Advanced Manufacturing Laboratory will prepare students for the Industry 4.0 era with access to robots, cobots, and sensor-enabled devices.
