General:
The Center for Smart Building Technology at Roxbury Community College is seeking passionate and qualified instructors to join our team in expanding our non-credit course offerings in Building Automation Systems (BAS).
As a Building Automation Instructor, you will play a vital role in equipping students with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the energy efficiency industry.
Instructors shall be responsible for providing effective and high-quality instruction; helping students master course content; assessing student learning outcomes; maintaining current knowledge in their teaching field; continuing professional development; utilizing current technology in the performance of job duties; maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics; assisting with curriculum development and program review.
Responsibilities:
Deliver effective and high-quality instruction to students in in-person BAS courses.
Facilitate student mastery of course content and assess learning outcomes.
Maintain accurate records following RCC policies.
Collaborate closely with the Center for Workforce Development staff for continuous course improvement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Adhere to assigned schedules reliably and punctually.
Employ diverse teaching methods to engage all students.
Maintain an updated course description, outline, and syllabi as necessary.
Maintain open communication with the Center for Workforce Development staff.
Stay current with industry trends and advancements.
Job Requirements:
Industry-related experience.
Teaching experience.
Appropriate knowledge, experience, and skill in the subject area of BAS.
License and/or professional credentials where applicable.
Ability to effectively lead classroom courses and workshops.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Passion for course content and student success.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous teaching experience to working professionals in building energy management, facility management, building engineering, operations and maintenance, or closely related fields.
Experience working with diverse student backgrounds and academic abilities.
Prior teaching experience at a community college.
Familiarity with online and/or hybrid course delivery.
Proficiency in operating audio-visual equipment and Microsoft Office tools.
Additional Information:
Salary Range: Commensurate with experience and qualifications
Hours: Hours can vary on a Monday-Saturday 9am-9pm schedule. Day, Evening, or Weekends can vary dependent on course availability
Courses are dependent on the course meeting minimum enrollment thresholds. Courses without adequate student enrollment may be canceled at the discretion of the Dean of Workforce and Business Development.
Expected start date: October 2023
Location: Roxbury campus
