The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) has a distinguished history and tradition of excellence in teaching, research, and service. Drawing on the diverse personal, academic, and professional backgrounds in our community, the school currently offers premier educational and research programs within three broad intellectual areas: Civil Infrastructure, Environment, and Systems and Management.
What you will do:
Working in direct support of the CEE Finance Specialist and Director of Administration, the Accounts Representative provides support for and coordinates of all the school's student employment activity including the processing and monitoring of appointments for graduate students and non-exempt student support staff. This position also provides transactional support for school financial activities, including purchasing, travel coordination and reimbursement, procurement card purchases, monthly journal reconciliation, and maintenance of space and capital asset inventories. The Accounts Representative also provides direct financial support to Master of Engineering Management program, as well as direct support to Civil and Management student organizations by coordinating travel logistics, purchasing equipment/supplies, processing payments, and performing risk management compliance activities. This position is the primary backup for coverage of the School's main office.

- Associate's degree in business, finance, or related field, with 2-4 years of experience or equivalent combination.
- Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to work in an office with many interruptions and have a strong customer service orientation.
- Mac and/or PC proficiency using Excel, Word, Kuali Financial System (KFS) or similar software is required and must be able to retrieve and manipulate data from multiple sources and online warehouses
- Must demonstrate ability to handle sensitive and confidential data with discretion. The ability to multitask and work within tight deadlines is required. Successful candidate will possess strong analytical, logic, organizational and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to prioritize and manage multiple projects of varying complexity and urgency.
- Requires ability to construct complex financial statements that require an understanding of the inter-relationships of the data.
- Must possess excellent attention to detail.
What We Prefer:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field preferred with additional familiarity with Cornell University administration, accounting, budget structure, procedures, and policies. Successful completion of Cornell Accounting Certification Program, Cornell Research Administration Certificate, or similar external certification is highly desirable.
