As a CAD/Controls Systems Design Technician, you will:
Create, update, and validate detailed CAD drawings for mechanical and electronic building systems, including mechanical systems, life/safety systems, and access control.
Provide on-site and remote assistance and technical support to technicians and outside consultants during the installation of new and renovated mechanical and control systems.
Communicate controls design information for assembly, installation, testing, and calibration of mechanical and control systems.
Create, maintain, update, and validate control system programming utilizing the UL Java Energy Management System (jEMS).
Collaborate on campus construction and renovation projects, assisting in mechanical system design and documentation.
Establish and manage project schedules to ensure timely completion of project deliverables.
Review and procure third-party equipment to ensure compatibility with UNL's systems and sustainability standards compliance.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
Associate degree in mechanical engineering, electronics technology, electrical engineering, industrial technology, controls systems design, other related field of study, or equivalent experience.
Proficient using MS Office, specifically Excel.
Proficient in AutoCAD.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong ability to learn and adapt to new software and teach others.
Ability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
Adaptable with the ability to change and switch directions quickly and effectively.
Strong communication skills.
Strong organizational skills.

Must have a valid driver's license and meet University driver eligibility requirement.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electronics technology, electrical engineering, industrial technology, controls systems design, other related field of study, or equivalent experience.
Experience in electronic circuit design, control management systems, and/or work management systems.
Experience with programming, troubleshooting, monitoring, and/or operating Java Energy Management Systems (jEMS).
Comprehensive knowledge of commercial HVAC systems including diverse air-side equipment, hydronic, and steam systems.
Familiar with object oriented programming languages.
Proficient with engineering design.
