Position Summary
Under the general supervision of the Department Manager and the Supervisor/Lead, incumbent is responsible for providing support to properties managed by UCLA Housing & Hospitality Services. The Facilities Worker will be tasked with performing low-skilled and non-technical assignments associated with cleaning, maintaining, and repairing a wide variety of facilities equipment, systems, and components. Specifically, these duties will include, but may not be limited to cleaning, lubricating and minor maintenance of various heating and cooling components including grills, registers drain pans, coils fans and belts. Assist more senior departmental members with repairs as needed. Prepare all required forms, reports, and documentation associated with assigned tasks

1 year Experience working on heating, ventilation and refrigeration equipment, water conditioning systems, water distribution systems & pumps. (Preferred) And
1 year Experience working on electrical motors and distribution systems including function, operation and servicing procedures. (Preferred)
Basic knowledge of low pressure steam boilers, plumbing procedures, including pipe and device repair and replacement, mechanical components including motors and fans, and energy management procedures (Required)
Basic knowledge of 120/208v electrical systems including minor automatic controls. Ability to distinguish amongst colors. (Required)
Demonstrated ability to perform unskilled plumbing, electrical, mechanical and carpentry repairs with guidance from skilled personnel. Ability to correctly and skillfully operate various standard, hand power tools and equipment to include voltage meter, multimeter, hand drills, electrical snakes, saws, grinders and roto hammers. (Required)
Ability to read and understand plumbing and electrical diagrams and work orders. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English sufficiently to determine and carry out job duties. Skills in writing simple English phrases using correct grammar and spelling to complete reports that are accurate and easy to comprehend. (Required)
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, managers, student residents, guests and contractors. (Required)
Skill in prioritizing assignments when there are changed in workload and/or competing deadlines. (Required)
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and follow through on assignments. (Required)
Skill in reading, understanding and interpreting administrative policy and procedure manuals. (Required)
Ability to stand, crawl, walk and stoop, push, pull and lift/lower objects weighing up to 50lbs from floor to waist high and rotate upper torso. Ability to lift material and parts, up to 50 pounds, from shoulder to above head while standing on a ladder. (Required)
Ability to work in dirty and noisy conditions, in wet or humid weather and in fluctuating and/or extreme temperatures. (Required)
Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver's License. Ability to drive a truck or other light vehicle in the course of duties. Working knowledge of standard safety practices and methods. (Required)
Ability to work overtime, weekends and various shifts. (Required)
