Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several geographic markets. The annual salary for this position ranges from $126,500 in our lowest market up to $155,500 in our highest market, plus bonus, equity, and benefits as applicable. The pay for roles at AZEK varies depending on a wide range of factors including but not limited to the specific work location, role, skill set, and level of experience.

The Process Engineering Manager to lead and oversee our process engineering team for PVC at our Scranton, PA facility. The Process Engineering Manager will play a crucial role in optimizing our manufacturing processes, ensuring operational efficiency, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This individual will be responsible for managing a team of skilled process engineers, collaborating cross-functionally, and implementing best practices to enhance our production capabilities.
Your primary duties and responsibilities will be:
Lead, mentor and develop a team of process engineers and technicians providing guidance on projects involving root cause analysis, SPC, continuous improvement, material qualification, new product scale-up, and tooling/equipment design.
Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment that encourages the sharing of ideas and expertise among team members across sites, operations, quality, EH&S, and R&D.
Analyze existing manufacturing processes to identify areas for improvement in efficiency, quality, and cost effectiveness. Examples:
Improvements to equipment performance including feeders, extruders, and downstream equipment to improve uptime, rate, and scrap reduction.
Tool development, modifications, tuning and repairs.
Data acquisition and process control improvements on line operations.
Drive the adoption of lean manufacturing principles and 6-Sigma methodologies to achieve operational excellence and a focus on results validation.
Lead cross-functional teams to design and implement process improvement projects that align with the company’s strategic objectives.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure process effectiveness and drive data-driven decisions for improvement.
Collaborate with R&D, Quality Assurance and Production teams to implement new processes and technologies.
Acts as the primary liaison between external tooling suppliers for new tooling, product improvements, modifications, repairs, and inventory of tooling assets.
Oversee the planning, execution, and successful completion of process engineering projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
Provide expert technical guidance to solve complex engineering challenges and troubleshoot process-related issues.
Identify potential risks in processes and develop mitigation plans to ensure product quality, safety, and compliance within industry regulations.
Communicate process changes, updates, improvements & project status effectively to all stakeholders.
Manages line commissioning efforts that occur after Preventive Maintenance event and manages open action item follow-up activities.
Researches and calculates cost savings opportunities and project justifications.
Facilitates the design of auxiliary equipment for improved functionality and safety.
Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in process engineering to drive innovation.
We believe the successful candidate will have:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Polymer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field. MBA or relevant management certification is a plus.
Proven experience (10+ years) in process engineering within a manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
Experience working in manufacturing branch of the polymer industry; extrusion, blow molding, roto-molding, injection molding, etc.
Experience with Die Design and Development, Preferred
Strong background in manufacturing systems, data collection, and statistical analysis in a dynamic fast-paced manufacturing environment
Demonstrated success in interfacing with internal (manufacturing, engineering, quality) and external (contractors, vendors) customers.
Excellent mechanical aptitude.
Understand manufacturing processes and technologies. Knowledge and experience in plastics extrusion.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Problem-solving mindset with the ability to think creatively and strategically.
Strong commitment to fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
