The Operations Technology Specialist position supports Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Energy Management Systems (EMS) essential to the operation of the DPC Bulk Electric System and member distribution electric systems.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Mission Critical Support:
Assist in maintenance and recovery of reliable operation of assigned systems that are used to operate mission critical functions.
Provide on-call support outside of normal business hours, rotating with other staff.
Provide support for mission critical staff and systems, including after hours.
Maintain technical knowledge of diagnostic and recovery procedures
Assist with high availability and disaster recovery solutions for mission critical functions
Conduct maintenance and support activities in a manner that maximizes the availability of critical functions
Protect the integrity and security of data, controls, applications, systems and networks, in compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements and DPC policies.
SCADA/EMS Support:
Maintain control system definitions for monitoring, control, logic, and user interfaces.
Verify integrity of all functions impacted by changes.
Assist with ongoing projects with operations, settlements, communications, engineering, member cooperatives, and other utility organizations.
Application Administration Support:
Assist primary application owners with support and troubleshooting of SCADA/EMS adjacent applications, including data archives, demand response, meter reading, and energy accounting.
Maintain application definitions to meet changing operational and user requirements.
Provide instruction to users and cross-train with peers. Maintain technical and user documentation.
Other Essentials:
Demonstrate integrity and high work standards as a member of the support team.
Provide remote and onsite support, occasionally traveling to offsite locations.
Escalate support and request items to appropriate technology staff or vendors when necessary, ensuring proper communication and follow-up with the customer occurs.
Build relationships with end users, IT team members, and business leaders to improve engagement and understanding of departmental roles and responsibilities.
Assist with communicating outages, maintenance, and process updates.
Participate in various projects and project tasks where appropriate.
Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in an Information Systems or Electrical Engineering related field.
Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Required Skills:
Strong organizational, critical thinking, and troubleshooting skills.
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to maintain technical documentation.
Must be self?motivated, disciplined, and able to perform job duties both independently and in a team setting.
Preferred Skills:
Strong knowledge of modern software applications and document management strategies.
Experience with a programming/scripting language (C, Python, Bash, PHP, Powershell), including writing automation scripts/programs.
Knowledge of routing, switching, data center infrastructure, wireless technology, and security.
