Summary | The College of Business at Michigan Technological University invites applications for a faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the area of Business Analytics with an anticipated start date in August 2025. Applicants should be able to teach a broad variety of business analytics courses.
The successful candidate should have an earned doctorate in Business Analytics, Management Information Systems, Quantitative Finance or other technical business degrees, or in Data Science or related technical degrees with a focus in business (e.g., Data Science PhD with an MBA) at the time of employment. Teaching and research areas of interest include one or more of the following: business analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning for business, business intelligence, business statistics, quantitative finance, and related areas.

Evidence of knowledge of the AACSB and its role in business colleges and schools. | Required Experience | Develop and maintain a rigorous and vigorous, nationally visible research program. Evidence of research activity that can lead to the publication of scholarly work in high-quality, peer-reviewed venues appropriate to the field of study. | Desirable Education and/or Experience | Earned doctorate from an AACSB accredited school.
Documented teaching experience in an institution of higher education with good teaching evaluations.
Documented industry experience in business analytics.
Documented publications in high-quality, peer-reviewed journal outlets related to business analytics. | Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities | Evidence of the ability to teach core business analytics courses, such as Introduction to Business Analytics.
Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching, program growth, and student success. Contribute effectively to undergraduate and graduate teaching with a student-centric, learner-oriented, experiential approach to instruction in residential and online modalities.
Demonstrated strong oral and written communication and presentation skills.
Demonstrated skills in business analytics tools. | Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities | Demonstrated ability to design and deliver an academic course in areas of expertise, in both on-campus and online formats.
Documented broad knowledge and skills across business analytics areas to accommodate diverse teaching needs.
Documented artificial intelligence and machine learning knowledge and skills related to business domains.
Demonstrated success in, or potential future contributions to, working with persons from diverse backgrounds, creating a sense of belonging, and fostering a fair, objective, welcoming place to work for persons with a wide variety of personal characteristics and viewpoints.
Documented research interests that align with one or more of Michigan Tech’s research centers or College of Business faculty are preferred.
