Job No: 496845 Position Type: full-time Location: Lewisburg, PA Categories: Biomedical Engineering
The Department of Biomedical Engineering at Bucknell University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position to begin August 2022. We expect to hire at the assistant professor level but are open to considering outstanding candidates at other ranks. We seek an outstanding and enthusiastic educator with a passion for engaging undergraduates to join a top-ranked, highly selective undergraduate department with small class sizes that facilitate close student-faculty interaction in a hands-on, interactive learning community. We seek candidates who are committed to Bucknell's efforts to create an inclusive climate that fosters the growth and development of a diverse student body, and we encourage members of groups that have been historically underrepresented in higher education to apply. Candidates are expected to have a strong technical engineering foundation with a background in biology or health sciences, including a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering or a closely related discipline.
As all Bucknell biomedical engineering faculty teach broadly across the curriculum, applications are welcome from candidates with expertise and experience in any area of biomedical engineering or any related fields. The candidate will have an opportunity to contribute to the development of curricular and research opportunities that align with their individual expertise and professional goals. Clear evidence of potential for excellence in teaching and high-quality scholarship is essential. Candidates who are able to contribute to courses in cell and tissue engineering, medical instrumentation, biomechanics, or medical device design are particularly encouraged to apply. An ability and commitment to pursue a research program of high quality and impact, which is designed to encourage undergraduate participation, is required. A demonstrated commitment to continued professional development and institutional and departmental service is also required.
We seek a teacher-scholar with a commitment to working successfully with a diverse student body and to incorporating inclusive pedagogies in the classroom and laboratory. We seek candidates who ensure respect for a wide variety of positions, raise perspectives that may not otherwise be vocalized in the classroom, and are eager to advise and mentor students from multicultural and underrepresented groups. We welcome candidates who demonstrate excellence in reflective multicultural and inclusive teaching practices and who display a strong commitment to collaboration and interdisciplinarity.
