Job Title: Manager, Datawarehouse
Purpose:
We are seeking a Data Engineering Manager to lead and grow our data engineering team, responsible for building and maintaining a scalable enterprise data warehouse (EDW) using Azure and Databricks. This role blends technical leadership with hands-on engineering, focusing on creating robust, high-performance data solutions that drive business insights.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of data engineers in building and maintaining our EDW.
- Design and implement scalable data architectures, pipelines, and ETL processes using Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Data Lake, and related tools.
- Actively contribute to data engineering efforts, including coding and optimization of data workflows.
- Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to align data initiatives with business objectives and timelines.
- Oversee the performance, configuration, and operations of Azure-based data services.
- Define and enforce standards for data quality, governance, and engineering best practices.
- Continuously improve data processes for scalability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and business teams to gather requirements and deliver usable, accurate data.
- Maintain clear documentation and provide training to support users and team development.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Hands-on experience with Azure services: Data Factory, Databricks, and Data Lake.
- Proficiency in SQL, PySpark, Python, and/or Scala.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing, dimensional modeling, and ETL best practices.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proven leadership abilities in team development, problem-solving, and project delivery.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, Azure DevOps, and Git.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with project management tools like MS Project or SmartSheets.
- Background working with data in highly regulated industries is a plus.
